Step by Step Foundation 2008 ART AUCTION GALA

One of our most important projects to date is the construction of an elementary school in Lahaie, Haiti called the “Tipa Tipa” school. This ambitious project began one year ago and when completed will support the attendance and education of more than 340 students. A small fishing village on Haiti’s coast, Lahaie is representative of the island’s most severe level of poverty. Basic services like electricity, potable drinking water and public sanitation are non-existent.

The urgent need to complete the construction of the “Tipa Tipa” school project has prompted us to get creative and come up with what we believe is a unique approach to getting this job done. We are organizing a fine art auction to be held at the prestigious Durban-Segnini Gallery in Miami, Florida on December 13, 2008. But this will not be any ordinary art auction. This is going to be an art event unto itself; a creative source of energy harnessing the power of art in support of children.

Our foundation has assembled a list of international personalities, prominent painters, sculptors, photographers, writers, designers and performers for the purpose of securing their participation in this ambitious and worthwhile project.

Here’s how it works…

Sponsoring a child is a great way to provide essential help to some of Haiti's vulnerable children.

1. To initiate our project, we commissioned renowned Venezuelan sculptor Jorge Blanco to design a sculpture that was inspired by our Step by Step Foundation logo. The result is a magnificient piece of art made of solid aluminum overpainted in white. This sculpture is unique in that it provides a three dimension blank canvas on which the talented and famous people we’ve selected to participate in this project can express themselves in any way they want. Enclosed you will find a copy of the design for this sculpture showing actual size and dimensions of the piece.

2. Each participant will be given one of these unique aluminum sculptures along with a set of simple instructions and asked to reinterpret, reinvent, embellish, decorate, adorn or beautify the sculpture by adding his or her own unique vision to it. Participants can feel free to paint, color, mark, paste or plaster anything their heart desires. The only thing we ask is that, when completed, all participants sign their work of art. All participants will also be provided with a specially designed shipping box for the purpose of returning their completed work of art back to the Foundation.

3. Upon receipt of completed artwork, each piece will be professionally photographed and included in our auction catalogue and in a limited edition art book.

4. All works of art will be exhibited over a period of two weeks at the prestigious Durban-Segnini Gallery in Miami. Durban-Segnini will be inviting more than 1,000 of their clients to preview all the works.

5. The Step by Step Art Auction Event will be promoted extensively to the greater Miami Arts Community, patrons of the arts, all media outlets, throughout Miami’s social circles and to Step by Step Foundation’s membership and large network of friends. Please note that the auction has been scheduled to coincide with all the promotions and preliminary festivities that surround Art Basel Miami happening Dec 4 – 7, 2008.

6. All activities will culminate in the actual Step by Step Art Auction which will be held on the evening of December 13, 2008 where we anticipate all sculptures will be sold with proceeds going to support the completion of the Tipa Tipa school in Lahaie, Haiti.

We would like to make it clear to all prospective participants, that your attendance of the Step By Step Art Auction event being held in Miami on December 13, 2008 is not required in order to participate in this important effort.

Though we would like to encourage all of our participants to join us in person for this important evening, if you cannot make it in person due to other commitments, we will understand completely. The most important thing is that you agree to join us both creatively and in spirit by adding your own personal artistic touch and signature to one of our unique sculptures.

For the Step by Step Foundation, it would be an honor to count on your participation in this project. Your efforts will help us to assure the success of our fine art auction and, with the proceeds from this special event, continue our work on behalf the children who need us.

All completed art works must be returned to our offices in Hallandale, Florida by no later than August 31, 2008 in order to be included in the catalog, auction directory and promotional material.

To accept our invitation, we would ask you to please communicate with us as soon as possible. Please contact Fernando or Alexandra Sucre or Beatriz Sáez at

Once we have your acceptance, we will be sending you a package containing the aluminum sculpture along with an information kit that will provide you with all pertinent information relating to the project and the Step by Step Foundation.

With the completion of the “Tipa Tipa” school in Haiti, we will be providing an education and a support structure to children who would otherwise have none. We will be making a real and significant improvement in the lives of these children. This is a goal that we undertake with great seriousness, enthusiasm and confident optimism, knowing that our efforts will be rewarded with new hopes and dreams for the children of Lahaie.

Let the power of your art make a difference. Join us!! We are counting on your participation and look forward to your earliest reply.

Sincerely,

Liliane Stransky
President
